This week’s Woman Crush Wednesday (or should we say Harvard College Women Crush Wednesday #HCWCW to combine our hashtags) is Lucía De Bernardo, a senior in Currier House concentrating in Romance Languages and Literatures with a focus field in Catholic Hispanic, Latin American, and Italian Studies. She was nominated by her friend Ariana Akbari, who says that she is “one of the most amazing women [she has] ever had the pleasure of being able to meet and somehow be able to call a friend.” Lucía seems to be the ultimate Galentine; she’s involved in an insane number of events and organizations across campus like Latinas Unidas, Fuerza Unida, Citizenship Tutoring at the Institute of Politics, the Politics of Race and Ethnicity group, the Women’s Initiative in Leadership, and is even a Bureau of Study Council tutor. On top of all of this, she has brought a branch of the Opus Dei Circle (a religious group) to Harvard as part of the Student Association, showing her passion, dedication, and tenacity.
However, beyond all of these activities, Lucía is an amazing, beautiful soul. She, quoting Ariana, is “an example of a poised, genuinely good-hearted, kind, beautiful, driven, fiercely intelligent, and thoughtful individual. In a world where people seem to lack all of many of these qualities, Lucía stands out as a star.”
